There is nothing out there today quite like
the great old lines of yester-year.

If you do a search on the web, you will find that this old Chevy has been photographed by probably thousands of people.  But, when you see it in this setting, you will understand why.  The classic lines of this old automobile set against the rustic buildings and landscape is irresistible!

The stamp mill processed the ore from the mine, and is still very well preserved inside.  You can tour the mine for an extra charge.  This is a panorama of several stitched images using Microsoft ICE.

This is the school house as seen from the side making it look more like a house.  The building is actually quite wide in the front.

I could have explored Bodie for much longer than we did because Bodie is still full of the old relics that were there when the town was still occupied.

The historic town of Bodie, California is an official California State Park, and this summer we took the 13 mile drive from the 395 down some pretty rough roads to see this well preserved mining town. This wonderful find is definitely worth scheduling some time for if you are in the area. We had been camping south on the 395 in Mammoth Lakes, so our day trip took us to Mono Lake for a picnic lunch, and then on up to Bodie before heading back down again.  I would suggest giving this a good half day if you are trying to add it to your schedule.  I will be posting a few of my favorite shots from Bodie, then we will travel south to Mono lake basin and finally to beautiful Mammoth Lakes.
